Resources for Undergraduate Dance and Theatre Programs

WHO SHOULD READ THIS PAGE?

This page is intended for undergraduate dance and theater programs and their Community College partners that are interested in preparing students to enter teacher credential programs.

WHAT WILL I FIND ON THIS PAGE?

Remembering that the reactivation of the credentials is still in process and that the Subject Matter Requirements (SMRs) and CSET questions are still being worked on by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC).

Eventually, this page will serve as a resource on how undergraduate dance and theatre departments can have “waiver” programs. A waiver program is a specific major or minor in your department that waives students from having to take to the CSET exams for entry into a teacher credentialing program, and is a strong recruiting tool.

This page will also serve as a resource for undergraduate programs who may want to develop integrated bachelor’s/credential programs with teacher education departments.

WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO KNOW SOMETHING MORE?

The CTC is meeting with advisory groups this summer so there should be information available in the fall.
