"According to a recent IBM poll of 1,500 CEOs, creativity is the No. 1 "leadership competency" of the future. This is not the artist-starving-in-the-attic-for-his-art activity that sometimes gets confused with creativity. This is the production-of-something-original-and-useful creativity that solves problems ranging from business mergers to fashion, storm-water management to sports equipment improvements." What an exciting few weeks it has been for Arts Education in Huntington Beach!

April 20, 2012

We're very excited for tonight's "Creative Visions and Imagination Celebration" Gala Reception at the Art Center on Main Street! Stop by tonight between 6:00pm and 8:00pm to support and celebrate our young local artists.

It's a unique opportunity to view, in one gallery, the progress that our students make in visual arts from kindergarten through grade 12. And this year there will be live choral and band performances as well!

Stop by the HB Alliance for Arts Education table to sign up for our email list, grab some literature on the importance of arts education and just say hello.

Admission is free and open to the public. If you cannot make it tonight, the exhibit will run between April 18th and April 28th. For more information, please visit: http://www.huntingtonbeachartcenter.org/exhibitions.php.

Of course, we wish them well but when a new superintendent arrives, how does the alliance keep the momentum going?
In Orange County, the month of November has been a banner month for welcoming new superintendents to the community and framing the issue of arts education in one fell swoop.

Do you have a passion for the arts and believe that an integrated arts education is essential for our children? Are you concerned that our children may not learn the creative skills necessary to compete in today's business world if arts education is eliminated?
