Creative Ticket Awards
Description of Awards
The Creative Ticket Awards, administered at the state level by the California Alliance for Arts Education (CAAE) and at the national level by the Kennedy Center Alliance for Arts Education Network (KCAAEN), honors schools that have done an outstanding job of making the arts essential to the education of their students. The program provides an important opportunity for honoring the roles schools play in providing a creative learning environment for outstanding achievement. National and state level awards provide opportunities for highlighting schools that have developed exemplary arts education programs. Past winners have included a mix of schools at all grade levels, each demonstrating distinct characteristics that more fully engage students in arts education and provide a strong foundation for overall success. National winners receive an honorarium to support their program, a plaque for display in their building and the opportunity to be featured in performance at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.
Guidelines for Nomination
To be considered for the Creative Ticket School Awards Program, the schools' arts education program should include two or more of the following characteristics:
- The school should teach all the arts (music, visual arts, dance, and theatre) as specific disciplines as well as integrated into other subject areas.
- The program should create and use imaginative learning environments for teaching the arts and recognize that the arts are critical and essential to education.
- The program should provide opportunities for parental involvement in the educational lives of their children through hands-on, creative arts-based activities.
- The program should provide students various opportunities for learning about other cultures through the arts, enabling them to explore differences in ways that are full of adventure and devoid of cultural bias.
- The program should provide community connections that build value and respect for the community by offering students diverse experiences beyond the classroom.
