Policy Agenda
In August 2004, the Public Policy Committee of the California Alliance for Arts Education (CAAE) established five priority areas and goals to guide its work over the long term. Each year, the Public Policy Committee establishes a strategic action plan that takes into consideration the current educational and political climates, and focuses on advancing outcomes within one or more of the priority areas below:
Accountability
Promote an authentic, appropriate, and compulsory presence for the visual and performing arts in State and district academic accountability systems.
Student Access
Support equitable access to high-quality, consistent, sequential, standards-based arts education for all students in grades pre-K through 12.
Resources
Advance the adequate, equitable, and sustainable investment of financial, human, and instructional resources in arts education throughout California public schools.
Professional Development
Advocate equitable, consistent, high-quality preservice and inservice training in arts education for elementary, secondary, and specialist teachers.
Relationship Building
Cultivate mutually beneficial relationships among arts and education policymakers and stakeholders.
