STANISLAUS COUNTY ALLIANCE FOR ARTS EDUCATION

A Local Advocacy Network (LAN)

August 22, 2012

Alliance Leadership Group Members:

It is shaping up to be an exciting year for our Stanislaus Alliance for Arts Education.  We are now at the point where we can focus our message and our action.  We need all of you to be a part of our creative, idea-driven advocacy efforts.

The first meeting of the new academic year will be on Thursday, September 27th at the Modesto Room of the centrally located, easy access, County Office of Education, from 4 to 5:30.

At this meeting we will

  • Define/refine the action plan for the 2012-13 school year
  • Form the sub-committees necessary to plan and implement aspects of the plan
  • Discuss our leadership group membership (who is “active” and who is “on-call”, who is “inactive” and how to select and invite new, committed leadership members
  • Finalize the meeting calendar for the year (date, time and place)
  • Catch up with news from CAAE

We have had several small meetings during the summer to plan some projects that could not wait.  We will introduce the specifics of

•  The CAAE School Board Candidate Survey

•  Our social media outreach project

•  The possibility of an on-going school board “forum”

•  Ideas/partnerships for a big push for Youth Arts Month in March of 2013

None of these ideas are fully formed and they do not include everything that we might want to accomplish. We need your input.  We have talked about many important initiatives that we might take up that would support quality, equitable arts education for all our students. If you know someone that you think would be interested in this work, invite him/her to attend with you. The first meeting of the year is a very good time to bring new people on board.  We don’t usually request a response regarding attendance, but for this meeting it would be helpful.  Please e-mail me at yesacp@earthlink.net and kindly let me know if you are able to attend.

With appreciation,
